Public Service Media (PSM) has participated in the Global South Media Partners Mechanism Forum, held in Xi'an, China.
PSM was represented by PSM Chairperson Aiminath Namza and Board Director Ahmed Adhuham. The forum, organised by China Media Group, brought together representatives from 80 media institutes across 50 countries.
In an interview with Tsinghua University, PSM Chairperson Namza highlighted the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media industry. She noted that the use of AI in the Maldivian media sector is still at an early stage. However, she emphasised that the potential benefits of AI are immense, and stressed the importance of adopting AI responsibly. She further noted that PSM is prioritising the development of resources, policies, and regulations for the use of AI.
Namza also expressed PSM’s interest in collaborating with Chinese media institutes and experts to share expertise and knowledge in the field of AI and digital transformation.
Namza described the Global South Media Partner Mechanism, initiated by China Media Group, as an important platform for strengthening ties, sharing experiences, as well as expanding the role of the media and enhancing unity.
Speaking at the Global South Round Table, Namza discussed the transformative development agenda of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, noting that the launch of Maldives 2.0 marks a new chapter of innovation, and symbolises the drive for development and a sustainable future in the Maldives.
During their visit to China, Chairman Namza and Director Adhuham also held key discussions with international media and industry leaders. Namza gave an exclusive interview to China Global Television Network, CGTN, one of the world's leading media outlets.
