Waste management center upgrading and dev. projects contracted

Environment Ministry on Sunday assigned contractors to projects to develop waste management centers in 2 islands, and upgrade waste management centers in another 3.

During a function held Sunday, Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim also signed over a project to import and deliver dustbins and waste composting equipment to five islands.

Under the projects contracted today, waste management centers will be developed in Fainu Island, Raa Atoll and Goidhoo Island, Baa Atoll.

The project in Fainuwas contracted to ThashishaPvt. Ltd., costing MVR829,522.36. The project in Goidhoo Island, worth over MVR872,862.31, was contracted to Brothers Mall Investment Pvt. Ltd.

Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim also signed over projects to upgrade waste management centers in Fulhadhoo Island, Baa Atoll, Alifushi Island, Raa Atoll and Kendhikulhudhoo Island, Noonu Atoll.

The project in Fulhadhoo, costing over MVR648,201.29 was contracted to Thashisha Private Limited.

The project in Alifushi was signed over to Brohood Construction Private Limited and costs over MVR982,663.01.

The waste management center upgrading work in Kendhikulhudhoo was contracted to New Hiyaa Investment Private Limited, for a price of over MVR736,170.

The 5 projects are funded under the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) budget.

The Ministry also contracted Entrance Private Limited for importing and delivery of dustbins and waste composting equipment for five islands in Shaviyani Atoll; namely, Milandhoo, Komandoo, Maa-ungoodhoo, Maroshi and Goidhoo. This project is also funded under the PSIP budget.
