Mohamed Ikram Abdul Latheef, Deputy Managing Director of Public Service Media (PSM), on Saturday evening announced plans to introduce a PSM apprenticeship programme.
Ikram made the announcement, speaking after launching the website of the Student Union of Maldives National University (MNU).
Noting a shortage of presenters with sound capabilities to speak fluent Dhivehi language, Ikram said the apprenticeship programme would aim to provide opportunities for high school students and people undertaking higher studies to work at the State TV.
He said a paper on the apprenticeship programme would be proposed to the Governing Board of PSM next week.
Speaking further, Ikram noted that in every society, graduates of the national university play a vital role in national and community development efforts in their respective societies.
