Tradian Single Window to Integrate Air Services in Phase Two

TradeNet Maldives Corporation Limited, the operator of the Maldives’ national single window system "Tradian," has announced a significant expansion for the platform's second phase, focusing on integrating air services and introducing aircraft registration capabilities by the first quarter of next year.

Tradian, a crucial national initiative designed to streamline import and export processes by providing essential services through a single digital platform, initially launched last year focusing exclusively on maritime trade.

The platform currently serves importers and exporters of goods by sea, with registration figures indicating strong uptake with over 58 shipping agents and more than 70 freight forwarders registered since the portal was opened on 20 April.

Speaking on PSM News’ ‘Raajje Miadhu’ programme, TradeNet Managing Director Saeeda Umar confirmed that while the first phase focused heavily on maritime based declarations and services, the second phase will dramatically broaden the scope to include imports and exports by air.

"Such a platform will make it much easier to expand new services such as sea-to-air cargo. It provides information in real time," Saeeda Umar stated, highlighting the strategic importance of the digital expansion.

Beyond air services, the second phase will continue the mandated registration and declaration processes for cargo vessels arriving by sea. New features include the handling of licensing for goods imported with special permits from various government agencies, as well as the processing of duty exemptions directly through the Tradian platform.

Saeeda confirmed that substantial progress has been made on the second phase. To ensure seamless operation of the air services component, TradeNet is collaborating closely with key stakeholders, including the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the Civil Aviation Authority, and Maldives Customs Service.

The highly anticipated aircraft registration service is scheduled to be fully implemented and available through Tradian by the first quarter of 2026, marking a major milestone in the digitalisation and efficiency of trade and economic services across the Maldives.

Tradian was developed through extensive consultation with the economic sector and local Maldivian businesses to ensure it meets the specific needs of the nation's trade ecosystem.
