Contracts Awarded for Five New Health Centres Across Maldives

The Ministry of Health has awarded contracts to two companies for the construction of new health centres on five islands.

The projects cover the health centres in Guraidhoo, Madifushi and Gaadhiffushi in Thaa Atoll, Kun’burudhoo in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, and Feeali in Faafu Atoll. The contracts were awarded to the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

Under WAMCO, the Guraidhoo health centre will be upgraded to a hospital. The project, valued at USD 2.12 million, is scheduled to be completed within 325 days.

The health centre in Gaadhiffushi will also be upgraded to a hospital. The new building required for the upgrade will be constructed by WAMCO for USD 830,090, also to be completed within 325 days.

WAMCO is additionally responsible for the construction of a new health centre in Madifushi. The project was also awarded to the company for USD 839,090, to be completed within 325 days.

Agreements for these projects were signed by WAMCO’s General Manager, Business Development and Marketing, Ismail Ubaidh on behalf of the company, while State Minister of Health, Ismail Abdulla signed on behalf of the government.

Meanwhile, MTCC has been awarded contracts for Kun’burudhoo and Feeali health centres. The Kun’burudhoo project is valued at USD 521,776 with a completion period of 300 days, while the Faeali project is valued at USD 1.4 million, with a completion date of 360 days.

The agreements for the two projects were signed by the State Minister Ismail Abdulla on behalf of the Ministry of Health, while MTCC’s Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Jamsheed signed for the company.
