The Youth Challenge 2016, which provided job opportunities for young people, came to a close Saturday night.
This year’s fair, titled “the Opportunity Pool”, was held at the Dharubaaruge Convention Centre.
The annual fair was initiated in 1998 by the Youth Ministry with the aim to provide youth an opportunity to have direct contact with colleges, universities and other such institutions that offer training and educational opportunities in various career fields.
Local and foreign educational institutions and other key government and private organisations from various sectors participated in the fair.
The fair featured 63 stalls, providing information on job opportunities, further education and training, entrepreneurship, internships and apprenticeships, and volunteering.
The fair provided a wide array of opportunities for the youth, including 600 jobs, 38 internships, and 109 educational and training opportunities.
Public Service Media (PSM) was the media partner of the Youth Challenge 2016.
