President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Waleed Shamlan Al-Bahar, Acting Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, held discussions on Saturday to explore avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation in key areas.
The meeting took place at the President’s Office during a courtesy call by Al-Bahar, who is visiting the Maldives to attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations and the inauguration of the new terminal at Velana International Airport.
President Dr Muizzu warmly welcomed Waleed S. Al-Bahar and his delegation, expressing his gratitude for their visit to the Maldives to witness the national celebrations. Al-Bahar conveyed his pleasure at joining the celebrations for the airport terminal opening and his great honour at being invited to attend the commemorations marking the 60th anniversary of Maldivian independence.
The two parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in key areas such as the economy, healthcare, renewable energy, and fisheries. The President expressed sincere appreciation for the continued support provided by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, noting its longstanding contribution to development projects in the Maldives.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to shared values and aspirations, and to further strengthening the existing ties between the Maldives and Kuwait.
