Ministry of Defence And National Security on Wednesday said flats being developed in Hulhumalé to provide housing for families of MNDF personnel would be completed before the end of October next year.
The “SIFCO” housing project, which commenced in 2013, remained suspended until recently.
The project, recommenced under the direct supervision of the President, will see development of 330 flats in Hulhumalé for the families of army personnel.
Island Experts Pvt Ltd is the contractor of the project which is expected to be completed by the end of October 2017.
Adam Shareef, Minister of Defence and National Security, noted that “it is high priority project”, and said “efforts are being made to complete the project as swiftly as possible.”
Recipients of 300 out of the 330 flats have already been selected. Under the project, 3 housing complexes, with 110 units in each, would be developed.
