The Zakat Fund has spent USD 1.99 million during the first six months of this year to support individuals in need over various categories.
From January 2025 to June this year, the Zakat Fund spent USD 1.99 million to support those in need, including the poor and needy, travellers in distress, religious causes, and Zakat administration.
According to the Zakat Fund, USD 921,513.61 was distributed directly to individuals registered in the national Zakat register in the first six months, at a rate of USD 324.25 per person. An additional USD 5,083 was provided from the Zakat Fund to individuals in need due to special circumstances outside the regular register.
In addition, medical assistance was provided to 594 patients requiring financial assistance, with USD 551,782.39 utilised for the purpose. The largest expenditure was on cancer treatment.

In addition, USD 116.731.51 was spent on the remuneration of administrative staff while USD 309.72 was allocated for panelists at the International Zakat Conference.
Furthermore, USD 27,752.25 was spent on travellers in distress under the Ibn Sabeel component. Under the Fi Sabilillah component, support was provided for education and training.

The Maldives Zakat House continues to provide assistance to those in need. This includes annual cash assistance to those listed in the Zakat register, and financial aid for medical treatment, education and other purposes.
