Zakat House Opens Applications to Register as Underprivileged

The Maldives Zakat House has opened registration for individuals who wish to be listed as underprivileged and eligible for Zakat assistance.

Applicants may register by completing and submitting the dedicated application form. The form has sections to fill information on the applicants, their children, as well as income and expense. All necessary instructions and requirements are included with the form.

According to the latest figures shared by the Zakat House, a total of 2,852 individuals are currently registered as underprivileged with the Zakat House. A substantial portion of the Zakat Fund is used to support and assist these individuals.

According to the figures for the month of June, USD 920,881.97 was distributed among the poor and needy as Zakat-al-Mal. The Fund disbursed an additional USD 778.21 as emergency assistance to those in need due to special circumstances. USD 110,246.43 also provided in medical assistance to 104 individuals, covering treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses.

Zakat Housing was established in January 2024 as a government agency that strengthens the Zakat system and facilitate the effective distribution of Zakat to those who are eligible.
