First Lady Meets Singapore Food Officials to Discuss Safety Frameworks

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed visited the Singapore Food Agency on Tuesday, accompanying President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on his official state visit to Singapore. The visit was undertaken at the invitation of Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

She was received by Dr Tan Lee Kim, Deputy General (Food Administration), before holding talks with senior agency officials. Discussions centred on strengthening food safety standards and regulatory frameworks in both the Maldives and Singapore.

The Singapore Food Agency, which oversees food safety and security across the country, anchors these efforts through research-driven innovation. Its mandate includes increasing domestic production to reduce dependency on imports.
