Maldives Welcoming Over 6,000 Tourists Each Day

The Maldives is currently receiving an average of 6,000 tourists per day, the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment has shown.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the number of tourists visiting the Maldives so far this year increased by 9.4 percent compared to the same period last year. As of 10 May, 1,016,377 tourists visited the Maldives, marking an increase of 9.4 percent from 2023.

On average, 6,313 tourists arrive in the Maldives daily.

Monthly tourist arrivals so far in 2025:

• January: 214,863 tourists
• February: 214,091 tourists
• March: 203,468 tourists
• April: 198,322 tourists
• May: 135,614 tourists
• As of June 10: 50,019 tourists

More than 100,000 tourists have arrived in the Maldives from the top three source markets this year. While 122,088 tourists visited from China, Russia accounted for 112,638 tourists. The United Kingdom contributed another 102,022 tourists.

The majority of tourists, accounted for 71.9 percent of total arrivals, chose to stay in resorts. Guesthouses were the second most popular option at 22.8 percent, followed by hotels at 2.8 percent.

The Tourism Ministry said there are currently 1,203 tourism facilities operating in the Maldives, offering a total of 64,033 beds.
