Air Arabia to Double Flights to Maldives Amid Soaring Demand

The United Arab Emirates’ Air Arabia has decided to increase its flights to the Maldives later this year, due to increased demand.

Air Arabia launched scheduled flights to the Maldives on 27 October last year. The airline currently operates one daily flight between Sharjah International Airport and Velana International Airport. According to the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Air Arabia will increase its flights to the Maldives to two daily flights starting from 27 October this year.

Air Arabia’s Chief Executive Officer, Adel Ali said the decision to increase flights to a popular destination like the Maldives was taken in response to growing demand.

Maldives is a popular destination among tourists, witnessing a steady rise in tourist arrivals in 2025. The government aims to attract 2.3 million tourists this year, of which one million tourists have already arrived. Several international airlines have increased their flights to the Maldives due to surge in demand.
