MNU Hosts ‘Robotics Hackathon’ to Showcase Innovations of Students

The Maldives National University (MNU) has launched a ‘Robotics Hackathon’ designed exclusively for its students.

The event is part of the Robotic Module of its Computer Science students, MNU said.

According to MNU, this two-day event is a platform where the next generation of tech leaders come together to build real-world solutions in record time.

“With expert mentors, cutting-edge tools, and a community of like-minded innovators, participants will be challenged to think fast, build smart, and push boundaries,” MNU said.

MNU’s Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology Dean Adam Khalid told PSM News that the event aims to familiarise students with the field of robotics.

“The main objective is to familiarise students with robotics. As robotics is one of the most popular fields in the world, we need to familiarise our students in this field and pave the way for them to compete,” Khalid said.

He said the event will greatly enhance the productivity of the students while providing them with much needed tools for students that can be utilised in the workplace.

"For example, robotics and things like this in artificial intelligence are quickly growing in the world. So if we don’t teach them here, students will have a lot of trouble when they go out into the work environment," he explained.

The Robotics Hackathon hosted by MNU's Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology every year, showcases a range of innovations and inventions of its students.
