President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated his Administration’s unwavering commitment to completely eradicate corruption from the Maldives.
Speaking during a ceremony held on Monday to unveil the revised masterplan for the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale’, President Dr Muizzu said the new website of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) would be the gateway to corporate good governance practices.
The President insisted that he was overhauling the system of governance to create a transparent, corruption-free environment, adding that HDC is a symbol of the results of the unrelenting efforts.
The government is determined to eradicate corruption from all State institutions and State-owned companies, he said, urging everyone to follow his zero-tolerance on corruption stance.
"We are here to do the work entrusted to us by the people. We are doing these things for the people. Our livelihoods largely depend on the salary we get. But the salary is the income that should be earned in the right way. It must not be abused as an opportunity to get things outside of that," he said.
The President said the quality of services provided to the people can only be improved if the system of governance is saved from the scourge of corruption and abuse of power.
