Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has kicked off its Global News Forum.
Maldives’ state-owned media company, Public Service Media (PSM) is participating in the ABU Global News Forum being held in Istanbul, Turkey.
PSM is represented by Deputy Managing Director Abdulla Yameen, Director of News Hussain Ameen and Director of Marketing, Sales and Communication Ibrahim Rameez.
ABU Secretary General Ahmed Nadeem said the theme of this year's forum is "Journalism Under the Fire" This slogan represents the persecution of journalists working against all odds to bring news and information to the world on the atrocities unfolding in Palestine, Nadeem said.
Nadeem said the purpose of setting a slogan related to journalists covering the situation in Palestine was to expose the stories of journalists being deliberately targeted as a result of the war and bring the genocidal acts committed by Israel to global attention.
The ABU Global News Forum will continue until 23 May. This year’s forum will showcase the latest innovations in news media and content generating artificial intelligence.
The forum is organised by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT).
Founded in 1964, ABU is an international organisation dedicated to promoting the field of broadcasting. The ABU has 232 members from 66 countries, including PSM.
