The new Representative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to the Maldives, Nina Brandstrup, on Tuesday presented her credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim.
At the ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry yesterday to present the credentials, Minister Dr. Asim congratulated Nina Brandstrup on the commencement of her term.
During the meeting, the Minister and the FAO Representative discussed the work that the FAO is carrying out in the Maldives and ways to further strengthen cooperation.
The Maldives has been a member of FAO since 1971 and covered by the representation in Sri Lanka since 1979. The Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture is the focal point for FAO in the Maldives.
The meeting was attended by the Communications Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hassan Hussain Shihab.
