The Kudahuvadhoo Island Council of Dhaalu Atoll has formalised an agreement with Rasheed Carpentry and Construction Pvt. Ltd. (RCC), a leading construction firm in the country, to address the island's pressing housing demands through the development of two apartment towers under the 'Maaveyru' project. The initiative promises to deliver 160 residential units.
The agreement, which signifies the commencement of the project's initial phase, was officially signed by RCC's Managing Director, Ibrahim Rasheed, and Mohamed Shiham, the Responsible Officer of the Kudahuvadhoo Island Council. This inaugural phase will focus on the construction of 'Tower A', one of the two planned towers.
Under the Maaveyru Tower A project, RCC plans to construct 80 apartments spread across two blocks. Each apartment will include three bedrooms and attached bathrooms, according to the company, with units priced at approximately USD 97,276.26, exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). The towers are designed to incorporate modern conveniences, including two lifts for enhanced accessibility, it added. Sales for the apartments are now open.
With a population of over 3,000 residents, Kudahuvadhoo is evolving into a focal point of residential and economic growth within Dhaalu Atoll. The island is home to the Dhaalu Airport—an international airport—and a burgeoning guesthouse tourism sector, which underscores its increasing prominence in the country's broader economic framework.
