President Honours 24 Huffaz at Inaugural Graduation Ceremony

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed attended the first-ever Huffaz Graduation Ceremony at the Islamic Centre, where 24 Huffaz were honoured for their achievement in memorising the Holy Quran.

At the awarding ceremony for the 36th National Quran Competition, the President had announced that the government would double the allowance to Huffaz and elevate the criteria for their certification to an advanced level. In line with this, Huffaz are now paid a money allowance of USD 130, and their certification is formally recognised by the Maldives Qualification Authority.

The government has also initiated a programme to award Huffaz with Umrah trips to Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, all Huffaz, regardless of their testing grade, are now awarded the President’s Special Medal.

A special gown and cap was introduced for this year’s ceremony to honour Huffaz, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting Quranic studies. The gown and cap’s design was inspired by the architecture of the Male’ Friday Mosque.
