The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed Ahmed Mausoom as the Director General of Maldives Blood Services, a department operated under the Ministry of Health.
Ahmed Mausoom has extensive management experience, and has previously worked at the main government hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
The appointment comes amid public concerns over the quality of services provided at the center. During a recent visit to the centre, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu committed to improving services by operating the centre as a hospital.
The Health Ministry said appointments to the Deputy Director General and Director positions will follow soon. While an announcement has been issued to recruit five nurses immediately needed for the centre, a physician will be hired soon, the Ministry assured.
