Pursuit of Happiness is a Collective Journey, says President

The pursuit of happiness is not an individual journey, but a collective one, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said Wednesday.

In his message on the occasion of the International Day of Happiness, President Dr Muizzu said the pursuit of happiness is not an individual journey, but a collective one for it is through shared humanity that we find lasting joy.

The International Day of Happiness is celebrated on 20 March every year.

President Dr Muizzu’s administration has initiated the process of establishing a 'Happiness Index' to measure the well-being of the people of the Maldives during the first year of his presidential term. The development of the country's 'Happiness Index' is progressing actively, with consideration given to internationally recognised 'best practice' standards.

The Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works as its lead agency has planned several initiatives including exchanging gift packs, greeting cards and flowers to celebrate this year’s International Day of Happiness.

In addition, Television Maldives (TVM) has also launched a campaign for the public to send in videos that bring happiness through kindness and compassion, the Ministry said.

This year's International Day of Happiness will be celebrated with the assistance of Happiness Index partners TVM, Dhiraagu, MaldivesPolice Service, Ooredoo Maldives, VB Mart and other well-wishers.
