Defending Islam Through Words, Deeds Vital to Our Survival: President

Honouring and defending Islam through every word and action is vital to the safety and continued existence of the Maldivian people, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said Wednesday.

In a message on social media platforms on the occasion of the National Identity Revival Day, President Dr Muizzu reminded the Maldivian people that the Holy month of Ramadan is the month when the greatest Holy sacrifices were made to defend Islam.

The President also said that Islam is etched in the core of Maldivian nationalism, adding that it was vital to honour, defend and uphold Islam in every word and deed for the safety and continued survival of the Maldivian people.

In his official address to the people, President Dr Muizzu had emphasised that embracing and upholding Islam has been the defining factor of Maldivian national identity.

Maldives celebrates the National Identity Revival Day on 6 March every year.
