President Vows Swift Delivery of Pledges with “Season of Results Ahead”

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday urged his people to expect the swift delivery of his electoral pledges with a “season of results” this year.

In his Presidential Address to inaugurate the Parliament for 2025, President Dr Muizzu outlined his vision for the nation for the year ahead.

The President insisted that he is determined to work with honesty, sincerity, self-confidence and courage for the betterment of the nation and its people.

“By the grace of Allah, this year will be a year of action. There is a national season of results ahead,” President Dr Muizzu said.

He reiterated that 2025 will be a revolutionary year of infrastructure development for the Maldives. Highlighting that housing shortages remains the biggest social problem facing the country, the President insisted that major projects will be carried out this year to finally address the longstanding shortage.

The government has earmarked USD181.5 million for housing, out of which USD116.7 million has been allocated for infrastructure development in the housing sector.

In that regard, the government has announced several housing projects across the country in January, inviting interested contractors to develop housing units in 57 different islands facing severe housing shortages.

In addition to housing, the government has launched several initiatives to diversify and strengthen the country’s economy through tourism promotion and enhancing other industries.
