Morocco Invites Islamic Minister Shaheem to Deliver Lecture at Hassani Ramadan Series

The Government of Morocco has invited the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed to deliver a religious lecture in Morocco during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The invitation was extended to the Minister by the Non-Resident Ambassador of Morocco to the Maldives, Mohamed Maliki, during a courtesy call on the Minister.

Every Ramadan, the Moroccan Government organises a series of lectures under a programme known as the Hassani Lectures, chaired by Moroccan King Mohammed VI. The series aim to rejuvenate the spirit of Ramadan, and hosts prominent scholars from across the world to discuss religious and intellectual topics. During the meeting with the Islamic Minister, Ambassador Maliki handed over the official invitation from the government of Morocco to participate in the event.

During the meeting, Minister Shaheem expressed gratitude to the Moroccan Ambassador, and discussed the possibilities of religious cooperation between the Maldives and Morocco. The Minister also briefed the Ambassador on the efforts being made by the Islamic Ministry to train local Imams. They also discussed opportunities for training imams in Morocco.
