Reclamation Work Commences for Male' Industrial Village Project

Reclamation work commenced on Thursday for the proposed Male’ industrial village project.

Speaking at a function held Thursday morning to officially inaugurate the work, Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said reclamation work is expected to be completed by July 3.

The industrial village is expected to be officially opened late July, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations, he added. Dr. Muizzu also announced plans to redevelop the outer seawall in the area. 

6.9 hectares of land will be reclaimed under the project, which will see the relocation of garages and other industrial workshops in Male’ to the industrial village.

Once complete, the industrial village will have a waste management facility and parking areas for large and heavy vehicles. The project to develop the industrial village is contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
