President Dr Muizzu Concludes Tour of Nine Islands in Huvadhu Atoll

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has successfully concluded a three-day tour of nine islands in the Huvadhu Atoll, underscoring his administration's dedication to engaging with local communities and addressing their developmental needs.

During his visit to the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, President Dr Muizzu made stops in Kanduhulhudhoo, Nilandhoo, Maamendhoo, and Dhevvadhoo. His itinerary for the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll included visits to Hoadedhoo, Nadellaa, Vaadhoo, Fiyoari, and Rathafandhoo.

A key highlight of the tour was the inauguration of new water supply and sewerage network services in Hodedhoo. President Dr Muizzu also participated in a signing ceremony between Bank of Maldives Ltd. (BML) and the local island councils of Hoadedhoo, Nadellaa, and Kanduhulhudhoo for the installation of ATMs on these islands. This initiative forms part of the administration's broader efforts to establish ATM services across all inhabited islands.

During his visits, President Dr Muizzu actively engaged with the residential communities, exploring ways to advance their developmental aspirations and sharing his administration's future plans. He reassured residents of his unwavering commitment to fulfilling electoral pledges, particularly those related to the development of the fisheries sector, a significant industry in Huvadhu Atoll.

Before concluding his tour, President Dr Muizzu visited Kooddoo in the Gaafu Alifu Atoll, which houses a fish processing plant operated by the state-owned Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO). During his visit, he toured the Kooddoo Fisheries Complex and engaged with local fishermen, listening to their concerns and discussing ways to support their livelihoods.

This series of visits commenced this year with a trip to Gulhi in the Kaafu Atoll, reflecting President Dr Muizzu's commitment to visiting all atolls and inhabited islands during his tenure. He has pledged to engage with local island councils, Women's Development Committees (WDCs), and residential communities to address their concerns and developmental needs. To date, President Dr Muizzu has engaged with the local councils of approximately 190 islands.
