The number of food products imported into the country has been on the rise this year, similar to previous Ramadans, Maldives Customs Service says.
Statistics released by the Customs authority showed a significant increase in some of the imports from May 15 to June 15. According to the report, some of the products included frozen chicken, dates, egg, meat, rice, mangoes, potato and onion.
Due to this increase, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) implemented measures to expedite customs clearance procedures for food products.
