President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday concluded his two-day visit to select islands of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll.
During the tour, the President had visited Dhan'gethi,Mahibadhoo and Omadhoo and met with the Island Councils and Women’s Development Committees of the respective islands.
He had also met with Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees officials of State institutions of several other islands in the same Atoll with discussions centring on the development priorities of the islands and the needs of their communities.
He also toured island health centres, schools, harbours and made observations on their current condition.
During several meetings, President Muizzu had reaffirmed his commitment to address the concerns raised and pledged to work swiftly to kickstart much needed development projects in the Atoll along with the rest of the country.
Earlier this year, the president set a goal to meet with all island councils across the Maldives, and has since undertaken a series of visits to various atolls. With the latest visits to Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, the President has now held discussions with 190 councils.
The President was accompanied by a high-level delegation during the trip.
