Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidhar has announced that the Ministry’s operations will resume after the weekend, despite a disruption caused by a fire.
A raging fire completely burnt down the Ministry building located on Ameenee Magu in Male’ City last Thursday, and the government has taken swift measures to ensure the ministry's operations are restored at the earliest.
Speaking to PSM News, Minister Haidhar said efforts are underway to relocate the Ministry’s operation to Dharubaaruge, with assistance from state entities and enterprises. The Ministry will resume its work from the new location on Sunday, he added.
The Minister confirmed that the fire had destroyed the ministry’s server on which crucial information such as employee information as well as project files were stored. As a result, all documents and data have been lost, he said.
Addressing concerns regarding the former government’s Gedhoruveriyaa Scheme data, Mimister Haidhar said although the information stored on the server cannot be recovered, the information related to the flat scheme remains unaffected.
''Fortunately, we had the foresight to store all data related to the Gedhoruveriyaa and Binveriyaa Scheme in a cloud. Therefore, we can still access this data from the cloud despite damage to our server," he explained.
In addition to the Housing Ministry, the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, as well as the Minister of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy were also affected by the fire. The three ministries will operate from Dharubaaruge from Sunday.
