President Reassures Priority for Agriculture

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Monday, reassured his administration’s commitment to developing the agricultural sector.

The President made the pledge during his meeting with the Kaashidhoo Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) as part of his ongoing two-day visit to several islands in the Alifu Alifu and Kaafu Atolls.

During the meeting, Council members shared the concerns of the island's residents and discussed the need for its development. They explained the current condition of the harbour and highlighted the challenges it presents to the community.

Additionally, the members expressed concern over the state of health care available in the island and emphasised the importance of addressing these issues. Council members also expressed their desire to promote tourism and implement new tourism initiatives in the island. Furthermore, they inquired about the government's efforts to support agriculture in Kaashidhoo.

The Kaashidhoo Women's Development Committee (WDC) also inquired about the structure of the WDC in the upcoming term during the meeting.

Responding to the queries and concerns raised, President Dr Muizzu outlined his plans for developing the agriculture sector. He also discussed the steps to enhance collaboration among various government departments and provided details on the government's efforts to empower the WDC.
