President Heeds Request by Students, Pledges Ground Floor Hall in Maafannu School

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has heeded the request put forth by the students of Maafannu Madhrasaa by pledging to build a hall in the ground floor of the school.

The President made the pledge after listening to concerns raised by some students during the ceremony held this afternoon to celebrate the school’s 40th anniversary.

Speaking during the ceremony, the President said he was delighted to attend the momentous celebration and noted that the Maafannu school alumni are serving the country across various sectors.

During the ceremony several students shared their concerns over the school hall which is currently located on an upper floor. After hearing the concerns, the President assured the students that a hall will be built on the ground floor next year.

"Next year, the school will have a hall on the ground floor that will be easily accessible to the grandparents of the students,” the President pledged.

The President also noted that Maafannu Madrassaa is renowned as a school helping children with special needs with love and compassion adding that a plan was underway to launch a program aimed at training teachers to facilitate the education of children with special needs.

"The Ministry of Education is in the process of launching a new program to train teachers. A new concept is to ensure all teachers in an inclusive manner are trained in the field and especially to produce teachers in the field to cater to the needs of children with special needs,”he said

“I want to implement the policy as stipulated in our manifesto to offer education in an inclusive manner to all without discrimination. I am quite certain that we will be able to deliver as promised.”

During the ceremony, principals and deputy principals of the school were presented with special plaques in honor of their dedicated services to the school.
