President Muizzu drives Maldives' diplomatic growth: Foreign Minister

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has highlighted the Maldives' growing influence on the global stage. Speaking to PSM News after attending the Arab-Islamic Countries Summit in Saudi Arabia and the COP-29 Summit in Azerbaijan, Minister Khaleel emphasized that the country's increasing diplomatic prominence is largely due to the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Minister Khaleel noted that President Muizzu’s active foreign policy has enabled the Maldives to take on a leading role in international discussions. At the Saudi summit, the Maldives strongly advocated for Palestinian rights and called for further global support for Palestine. President Muizzu participated in the summit, reaffirming the country’s commitment to humanitarian causes.

Following the Arab-Islamic summit, President Muizzu travelled to Azerbaijan for the COP-29 Summit, where Minister Khaleel highlighted the opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations with several countries. Additionally, the minister mentioned a new initiative offering free visas for Maldivians traveling to Azerbaijan, with President Ilham Aliyev assuring continued support for the program.
