Vice President urges Hajj and Umrah providers to prioritise religious merit

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has emphasised that companies offering Hajj and Umrah services should prioritize religious significance and spiritual rewards over commercial interests. He made this statement during his address at the opening of the Maldives' inaugural Hajj and Umrah Conference.

At this first session, which unites Hajj and Umrah service providers for collaborative discussions, he pointed out that hosting the conference in the Maldives signifies the government's commitment to enhancing this sector. He also noted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's focus on providing convenient, high-quality Hajj and Umrah services.

The Vice President expressed optimism that the conference would lead to the growth of the Hajj and Umrah service sector and improvements to the overall system. He hopes for better protection of pilgrim funds, the development and revitalization of the Hajj fund through innovative approaches, and the realization of the government's goal to reduce Hajj costs.

The Hajj and Umrah Conference is designed to include panel discussions and keynote addresses on related topics, featuring representatives from various institutions involved in Hajj and Umrah, along with religious scholars.
