CA Maldives appoints Dr. Mohamed Mahid Shareef for CEO position

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) has appointed Dr. Mohamed Mahid Shareef as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Dr. Mahid has had a diverse experience in public administration, higher education, and strategic development for over 20 years. He has held key positions such as Permanent Secretary in two government ministries and Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives, showcasing his extensive expertise in governance, finance, and infrastructure management. CA Maldives states that his appointment is expected to further enhance the institute’s commitment to advancing the accounting profession in the Maldives.

Furthermore, Dr. Mahid holds a Doctor of Business Administration, master’s in Public Sector Management, and an Executive Master’s in Sports Organization Management (MEMOS). His educational background also includes a Bachelor of Engineering (Information and Electronics), as well as multiple diplomas in Sports Management, Business Management/Administration, and Accounting in Business and Management.

CA Maldives was established on September 8, 2020, upon the ratification of the Chartered Accountants Act of the Maldives. The institute aims to establish and promote the accountancy profession in the Maldives by regulating matters relating to the accountancy profession in accordance with international norms and rules.
