Maldives has been nominated for six awards of the World Travel Awards (WTA), World Travel Market (WTM) World's Leading Category. This year also, the Maldives has been nominated for the most prestigious award of WTA; World's Leading Destination.
Established in 1993, the WTA is recognised as the premier accolade in the global tourism industry, celebrating excellence and innovation across various sectors. The winners are selected by well-known professionals within the tourism industry, experts and tourists. The award prioritises the tourism industry and tourists.

Since 2019, Maldives has successfully secured the most prestigious award of WTA, World's Leading Destination, for four consecutive years. Similarly, MMPRC has also been awarded the World's Leading Tourism Board two years in a row.
