The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has announced that weather conditions are expected to improve starting September 30. However, unfavorable weather is forecasted for various parts of the Maldives on September 29.
The Met Office stated that rain will affect the northern and central regions on September 29, while the southern region is expected to experience heavy rainfall. In addition, heavy rain is expected in the central region in the afternoon. As a result, a white alert has been issued for the central region, covering the area from Lhaviyani to Faafu Atoll, from 0930 to 1530hrs on September 29. The alert warns of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and winds reaching speeds of up to 35 mph. The seas are also expected to be rough in the north and central parts of the country, with moderate to heavy rain in the southern atolls.
The Met Office stated that the weather is predicted to start improving from September 30, with lighter rain expected by October 1. The authorities have also advised travelers to exercise caution during the holiday period.
