Ministry of Health has announced plans to develop the Maldives Digital Health Architecture Blueprint; a digital system which can maintain the records of patients. This initiative aims to modernise the health sector of the Maldives and ensure that the health records of patients are well-maintained. The health ministry stated that efforts are underway to develop a roadmap to achieve this objective.
The health ministry expressed optimism about the blueprint, noting that it will help address the lack of essential information needed for treatment provision. Additionally, it will facilitate access to up-to-date information, enabling more informed decision-making in policy development.
Under the efforts to create the Maldives Digital Health Architecture Blueprint, the ministry has conducted workshops with healthcare providers, policymakers, experts, and other relevant stakeholders to gather their opinions and recommendations. The ministry affirmed that public opinion will also be sought, before completing the development of the blueprint.
The ministry is working, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to develop the Maldives Digital Health Architecture Blueprint. This effort represents a significant nationwide step towards fostering a culture that prioritises the health and well-being of residents and aims to prevent chronic diseases.
