Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) has urged all prospective students applying to college programmes to ensure the programme undertaken is approved by MQA.
Highlighting several colleges are advertising programmes they offer in social media, MQA emphasised the importance of ensuring the programmes were being advertised as per its guidelines. MQA additionally underscored the necessity of seeking more information on the programme and MQA approval as well.
MQA stated a list of permitted programmes and other relevant information can be accessed through the authority's website. Therefore, MQA cautioned all individuals to be informed of this when filling application forms for programmes. The authority further revealed legal action will be taken against institutions which conducts and advertises programmes which are not permitted.
The authority has initiated several measures, aiming to maintain quality of the courses conducted by colleges and universities. Under these efforts, action have been taken against some colleges which were conducting courses, including online courses, against MQA's guidelines. Online courses can only be conducted by institutions after MQA has conducted an analysis to determine whether the institution is capable of conducting the course.
