The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that 99 Maldivian nationals currently in Bangladesh are in good health and that the situation is being closely monitored.
The foreign ministry, in coordination with the High Commission of the Maldives in Bangladesh, is currently overseeing the well-being of Maldivians residing and travelling in the country amid the ongoing unrest.
As such, the Maldives High Commission is in contact with 75 students in Chittagong, seven in Dhaka, and one in Cumilla. It has also facilitated the relocation of a university student in Dhaka to a safer area and provided curfew accommodations for students at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. In addition, two students from medical schools in northern Bangladesh were assisted with border crossing, in collaboration with the High Commissions of the Maldives in Bangladesh and India.
The foreign ministry urges all individuals to adhere to the Bangladesh government's directives and curfews and remain indoors as instructed. Individuals in need of any assistance related to the current situation in Bangladesh can contact the High Commission of the Maldives in Bangladesh.
