AFC offers condolences on the passing of footballer Arif

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of Maldivian football icon Mohamed Arif, known as Baka.

In a heartfelt statement signed by AFC President Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the organisation conveyed its condolences to Baka's family and friends, recognising his significant contributions to Maldivian football.

The AFC highlighted Baka's enduring legacy within Asian football, emphasising his memory will continue to inspire future generations of players. Throughout his career, Baka participated in numerous AFC tournaments, leaving an indelible mark on the sport in the region.

Mohamed Arif (Baka) passed away on June 25, while undergoing treatment in the ICU at ADK Hospital, shortly after returning from Hajj.

The AFC, alongside the global football community, mourns the loss of Mohamed Arif (Baka) and honors his enduring legacy in Asian football.
