International observers hail ECM for successful parliamentary elections

The team of international observers has praised the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) for conducting a free and fair, peaceful, transparent, and credible parliamentary election. In the parliamentary elections, 45 international observers and one monitor participated in overseeing the process.

At a press conference, Chief Observer Dr. Shahabuddin Yaqoob Quraishi highlighted that the voting process was conducted smooth and seamlessly, emphasising that no complaints were received regarding the elections. Several other international observers expressed their satisfaction with the conduct of the elections.

Moreover, the observer from Bhutan, affirmed that the voting procedures adhered to international standards. He further expressed appreciation for the voting arrangements implemented abroad, highlighting the valuable insights that could be strengthened in Bhutan during future elections. Simultaneously, he observed the proactive contribution of females during the elections.

Furthermore, the Philippines Observer applauded the successful completion of the re-registration process, noting that it was handled by the Department of National Registration (DNR), resulting in significant eases for ECM.

Over 6,000 election officials were active during the parliamentary elections, including international observers, monitors and candidate representatives. These comprise 2,495 observers, 4,614 monitors and as well as 1,816 candidate representatives.
