Election Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has announced that over 50% of eligible voters have cast their respective votes by 1500hrs.
Official statistics released by the ECM revealed that 160,158 individuals voted by 1500hrs, contributing to 56.26%. This includes 82،931 men and 77،227 women.
With the parliamentary election electing candidates competing for the representative position of 93 constituencies, voting hours commenced at 0800hrs and are to be concluded by 1730hrs. ECM declared that the counting of votes will begin 30 minutes after the closing of ballot boxes.
ECM has urged individuals to cast votes promptly, as the time allocated for voting will not be extended regardless of the situation.
