Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim has emphasised the centrality of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah to Maldivian identity. He made the remarks during the 11th Quran competition results ceremony organised by the Kudahuvadhoo Island Council.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Adam Naseer underscored two key aspects concerning Islam and nationalism in the Maldives. He discussed the historical reverence for the Holy Quran over the past three decades and its influence on societal ethics. He also highlighted the significance of the recitation of the Quran in upholding noble traditions.
Additionally, the minister commended the societal progress in meeting Quranic objectives, noting the dedication and bravery of Maldivians. He also urged students to delve deeply into the teachings of the Quran, reflecting on its profound meanings and striving for comprehension.
The competition was attended by 121 participants, with Liva Ahmed Shanoon receiving the first prize.
