MRI services to be launched at Ungoofaaru Hospital after Ramadan

Minister of Health Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has announced that MRI services will commence at the Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital following Ramadan. He made the remarks while speaking at a gathering with the residents of Ungoofaaru, during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's current visit to Raa Atoll.

Speaking at the gathering, Minister Khaleel pointed out the lengthy queues for MRI service in Male' City. He underscored that extending MRI services to Ungoofaaru Hospital and other regions in the country will alleviate reliance on the capital city for such services.

Additionally, Minister Khaleel revealed President Dr. Muizzu's intention to elevate Ungoofaaru Hospital to tertiary level. He noted the current roster of 10 medical officers at the hospital and pledged to bolster human resources in tandem with its development.

Furthermore, Minister Khaleel highlighted the government's endeavors to alleviate the burden of various illnesses on the populace. As such, he disclosed plans for a dedicated thalassemia hospital and informed that 10 children had already undergone bone marrow transplants abroad. He noted that the Thalassemia Hospital would facilitate such transplants within the Maldives.
