President affirms focus on economic development

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed the government's commitment to the advancement of Addu City, emphasising the prioritisation of its economic development. The statement was made during a meeting with the Addu City Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC).

Throughout the session, the city council expressed concerns regarding various aspects, including the improvement of health services, challenges related to accessing medicines, water services, the power plant and electricity grid, as well as issues pertaining to the port and certain ports. Additionally, discussions encompassed housing projects, the development of youth-oriented sports facilities, employment opportunities, reclamation work in Hulhumeedhoo, road construction projects, and the concerns voiced by farmers and fishermen. The WDC, present at the meeting, shed light on the social development needs of Addu City and underscored the financial challenges it currently faces.

In response, President Dr. Muizzu assured that all issues raised by the council would be given careful consideration. He reiterated the government's dedication to fostering economic growth in Addu City. Furthermore, the President encouraged the Addu City Council to engage with pertinent government agencies to address the concerns that were brought forward during the meeting.
