Vice President confirms land allocation for Thalassemia Hospital

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has announced the allocation of 71,000 acres of land from Hulhumale' for the construction of the Thalassemia Hospital. He made the announcement during the official opening ceremony of the National Thalassemia Conference organised by the Maldivian Thalassemia Society.

Expressing his hopes, the Vice President stated that the seminar would bring color to the aspirations of Thalassemia children and their parents. He highlighted the significance of bringing together Thalassemia children, their parents, and relevant experts under one roof, emphasising that the information shared would have lasting benefits.

Addressing the plight of Thalassemia children and their families, the Vice President stressed the importance attached to their suffering and treatment by Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. He underscored that the government's Week-14 roadmap has prioritised thalassemia children, with initiatives focused on providing special attention, access to medication, and treatment.

In line with the President's pledges, the Vice President mentioned that the government has initiated covering all expenses for children requiring bone marrow transplants abroad. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring the accessibility of treatments to as many patients as possible. Additionally, he spoke about arrangements to supply medication and essential supplies for thalassemia treatment in islands across the country.

Commending the courage of children battling thalassemia, the Vice President assured that government ministries would collaborate in various ways to enhance care for children with thalassemia.
