The Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM) has appointed two deputy vice chancellors.
Dr. Aishath Waheeda and Ahmed Ameen Mohamed were appointed as deputy vice chancellors at a ceremony held at IUM. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Zahir was present at the ceremony.
Dr. Waheedha was appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Ameen was appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Administration and Finance. Ameen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Marketing from the Maldives National University and Dr. Waheeda holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Academics from Brunei Darussalam University.
At the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahir expressed hope of seeing more progress and zeal in the work of the university. He also expressed gratitude for the valuable work of former Chancellor Dr. Ismail Zakariyya Moosa. He highlighted that a university is a place where everyone works together and helps each other expand knowledge and research, adding that deputy vice chancellors are invaluable for this effort.
Additionally, Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahir highlighted the challenges facing the university, such as the lack of space. He said that students of IUM should have an environment similar to that of colleges and universities in other countries.
