Medical check-up clinic to be established at IGMH

The Male' City Group of Hospitals has stated that a medical check-up clinic will be established at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

CEO of Dharumavantha Hospital Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, the Head of the Governing Board of the Male' City Group of Hospitals, made the statement at a press conference held to share information on the government's initiative to provide biannual medical checkups twice a year through the National Health Scheme, Aasandha.

At the press conference, Razzaq said that the service will be expanded in line with demand. He noted that a special facility has been established to conduct medical checkups at Hulhumale' Hospital and that a special clinic will also be established at IGMH. He added that the results of the medical checkup will be made available within four hours and will be arranged in queue order.

Medical check-up services are available at atoll health centres, regional hospitals, IGMH, Hulhumale' Hospital and Villimale' Hospital. Individuals can call the relevant health facility and register for a medical checkup. Appointments can be made every Saturday and Wednesday at hospitals in Male' City. Razzaq said appointments for medical check-ups can be made by phone and at the hospital counter.

Facilitating free medical checkups twice a year for citizens under Aasandha is included in the government's roadmap for the first 14 weeks. This initiative focuses on early disease detection, promoting healthy living, and fostering a generation knowledgeable about disease prevention.

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) stated that the medical checkup service, developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals, commenced on January 1 for individuals aged 50 and above. The service will extend to those aged 35 to 49 and children under 19 from April 1 and individuals aged 19 to 34 from July 1.

After the initial check-up, individuals recommended for a second check-up by their doctors can avail the service six months later during the year. The packages are tailored to identify non-communicable or major diseases requiring long-term treatment, subject to professional guidance and periodic reviews.
