Rainfall expected in the next 24hrs: Met Office

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has stated that the weather forecast for the next 24hrs predicts predominantly rainy conditions across various regions of the country, accompanied by thunderstorms.

Met Office anticipated rainfall in the previous 24hrs, with the most substantial downpour recorded in the southern and central areas of the country. The highest rainfall occurred in Kaadedhdhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, measuring 44 millimeters. Following closely was Dhiffushi, Kaafu Atoll, measuring 43mm of rainfall.

The Met Office further stated that winds in the central and northern regions are expected to range between 10-20mph over the next 24hrs, reaching 35mph in cloudier areas. In Hulhule' and Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, winds will be between 10-20 mph, while Kaadedhdhoo, Kadhdhoo in Laamu Atoll, and Gan in Addu City can anticipate winds between 5-10mph. The seas are projected to be moderately calm and robust in cloudier regions.

The Met Office also mentioned that seas will be rough in the northern and central parts of the country, while southern winds will bring calm conditions to the seas in that region.
