Fenaka Corporation Limited has stated that it working towards implementing a permanent solution to the issues faced at the water plant in Naifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll.
In a press release, Fenaka stated that the water supply issue in Naifaru arose due to an imbalance between water consumption and production. The imbalance led to intermittent disruptions in water services across the entire island. The company stated that a temporary solution has been implemented, resulting in the restoration of water services on the island after a brief suspension. The company also noted that finding a permanent resolution will necessitate additional time.
The initiative to install the water supply system in Naifaru commenced in 2017, with a temporary suspension in 2019 due to various reasons. The project resumed in 2020 and was completed in 2022. Throughout the period, spanning from the project's completion to the actual provision of services, the island's population had increased, resulting in an increase in water consumption. The increase surpassed the water plant's production capacity, necessitating periodic interruptions to the service.
Fenaka is committed to implementing a more robust system that guarantees uninterrupted water service provision, addressing the challenges posed by the rising population and ensuring a sustainable solution to the water supply issue in Naifaru.
